I am player/trainer teacher at racquet (Matkot) (Beach Rocket) and i love the game. It's a very simple game to play and the cheapest one i ever played in my life. All i need is one rocket going to the beach play with people make friends with them and having fun. I play this game over fifty years and still playing strong and that what keeps me strong. Rocket's i play with made our of Carbon and i have made out of wood which they are cheaper. I might need a squash ball or two. The game, which for a time was marketed with some success in North America has its enthusiasts on the beaches of Brazil, where it's known as “frescoball," and among former Israelis living in beach communities abroad, particularly in Greece and Thailand. But really, it’s a local thing, fated to remain where it began – driving a fair number of the peace- and quiet-loving population here to insanity and serving as something of a religion to all the rest.
in this vedeo i am playing with Galit.

Matkot (Hebrew: מטקות lit. "racquets") is a popular paddle ball game in Israel similar to beach tennis, often referred to as the country's national sport. The goal of the game is to hit a small rubber ball with a wooden racket as many times as possible without dropping it.
Player poised to hit the ball
Matkot is a non-competitive beach game in which two or more players hit a small ball back and forth using paddles. The sport is named after the racquet, the matka; the origin of this word is unclear.
The racquets are traditionally made of wood, although sometimes the handles are reinforced with a plastic covering. The head of a racquet may vary somewhat in size and shape. The heads are circular and about 30 centimetres (12 in) in diameter. The racquet handles are short, and with very little trunk between the handle and the racquet head.
The standard ball used is the same ball as is used in squash. However, novice and intermediate players sometimes use a ball that is similar in size to a squash ball, but lighter and/or bouncier.
The game has developed a moderate level of popularity outside of Israel as a participatory sport, particularly where there is either a strong beach culture (e.g. Brazil, where it is also highly popular, but more commonly known as frescoball), or a significant number of Israelis living abroad (e.g. Thailand).
Beach RacquetBall, known as matkot in Hebrew, has a hallowed place in Israel. In recent years, the sport has mutated. That mutation—known as "Bat Yam style" for the Tel Aviv beach suburb where it was pioneered in the 1990s—turned the quaint seaside pastime into a fast-paced, hard-hitting game. Since then, the style has spread—and so too have calls to ban the sport.
Matkot (B.R.B.) manufacturers began churning out more powerful rackets made of carbon & Fiberglas instead of wood. The new paddles allowed players to hit with more force and the carbon made a louder, more earsplitting thwack. An Israeli air force engineer even produced a matkot paddle (B.R.B.)made of fighter jet alloys.

Fired by Bat Yam style, matkot was enjoying a revival. The first Israeli matkot competition was held in 2000, capped by a national championship in Tel Aviv. Each summer has been filled with similar competitions. we still going STRONG afer 50 years of Playing!!!
Players are evaluated by their hand-eye coordination and how well they manage to keep the ball in play with their partner like Lony. Other indicators of a good player have to do with style – the harder you hit, and the more accurately and controlled your slams, the better. The chemistry between the two players is also crucial.
at the beach!
Anyone who has ever been to any beach in Israel knows what Matkot refers to. It’s that uniquely Israeli game where two people whack a Squash ball back and forth using Beach paddles. There’s no winner or loser in this uniquely Israeli game. You just stand there and whack the Squash bball. Back and forth. Some have posited that the virtue of the activity is that it is the only game where you try to help your partner keep the ball in play. not like Other racquet Ball sports encourage players to mess up the other player, and this is seen as being reflective of some noble, uniquely Israeli character trait.
In any case, matkot is well-suited to the coastline climate, and simple enough for anyone to play. It caught on.
